Interview prep coach

The interview advice most Nigerians were handed is nearly twenty years old. This is the 2026 version: how the questions are really asked now, what interviewers listen for, the new AI questions nobody prepared you for — and instant feedback on your own answers.

Free, no sign-up. Your answers never leave your browser.

1. Where are you in your career?

The first four minutes that set the tone for everything after.

Behavioural / STAR

"Tell me about a time…" — answered with evidence, not adjectives.

The uncomfortable ones

Weakness, gaps, exits, conflict. Honest and framed, never rehearsed.

AI-era questions

New in 2026: how you work with AI, and what you still own as a human.

Money & logistics

Salary, notice period, hybrid work — handled without losing leverage.

Your turn to ask

The questions that make an interviewer remember you.

3. Take your prep sheet with you

Draft a few answers above, then download your personalised sheet — questions, coaching notes and your own answers in one file.

The eight-point preparation checklist

Work through this the day before. It replaces the old "seven tips" list — same discipline, current reality.

  1. 01Research beyond the About pageTheir last announcement, their competitors, their customers, and the name and background of whoever is interviewing you.
  2. 02Prepare six STAR stories, not thirty answersAchievement, conflict, failure, pressure, influence, learning. Six well-built stories will cover forty questions.
  3. 03Rehearse out loud, once, on cameraRecord your "tell me about yourself" on your phone and watch it back. Filler words and rambling only show on playback.
  4. 04Test the tech an hour beforeCamera at eye level, light in front of you not behind, headphones, wired or backup data, and a quiet room. For virtual interviews this is half the impression.
  5. 05Dress for the organisation, not the eraBusiness formal for banks, law, oil and gas and the public sector. Smart-casual is safe in tech and creative firms. When unsure, ask the recruiter — it is a normal question.
  6. 06Bring your evidenceTwo printed CVs, your portfolio or work samples, certificates, and three referees who already know you will name them.
  7. 07Know your numbersYour salary band, your notice period, and three metrics from your own work you can quote without checking.
  8. 08Follow up within 24 hoursA short thank-you email referencing one specific thing discussed. Most candidates skip it, which is exactly why it works.

Frequently asked questions

Is the interview prep coach free?

Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up. Your answers stay in your browser and are never uploaded or stored.

What is the STAR method?

STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action and Result. It is the structure interviewers use to assess behavioural answers: set the scene briefly, say what you were responsible for, describe what you personally did, and finish with a measurable outcome.

How should I answer questions about AI in an interview in 2026?

Name the tools you actually use, the specific tasks you use them for, and how you verify the output before relying on it. Employers are equally interested in what you refuse to hand to AI — decisions affecting people, confidential data, and work you must personally be accountable for.

What salary should I quote in a Nigerian interview?

Ask for their budgeted range first. If pressed, give a researched band rather than a single figure, and evaluate the total package — pension, HMO, allowances, hybrid days and training budget — not just the basic.
